In accordance with the wishes of the Vasquez-Margolin family, Marin FC has established a “Living for the Game” youth scholarship fund in honor of Eloi Vasquez, a gifted soccer player and committed student, son, brother and teammate. Eloi honored the game both on and off the field with integrity and passion. His contributions to the community and the impact he had on so many will not be forgotten.
This youth soccer scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis to a student-athlete who embodies Eloi’s dedication to family, mentorship abilities, strength of character, commitment to personal growth and academics, ability to inspire teammates, and passion for the game. The fund will honor Eloi’s life and accomplishments, and help future players continue his legacy of excellence.
Our objective is to establish a sustainable endowed fund that will honor Eloi’s legacy in perpetuity. With that in mind, our goal is to raise $125,000, which would allow the scholarship to fully sponsor one player annually. The actual dollar value of the annual scholarship will depend on the funds available in the account at that time. If additional funds are available, additional scholarships may be created.
The scholarship beneficiary must be a Marin FC financial aid recipient. A separate application process is required to determine player eligibility for the award (see below for application). Applications for the 2019 Living For the Game scholarship are available now (see below) and are due at midnight on September 22, 2019. This years recipient(s) will be announced at Eloi Day at CAL on October 6, 2019 (subject to NCAA rules and age of receipient).
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

Applications of the 2019 Living For the Game scholarship award are currently being accepted. The deadline for submission is midnight September 22, 2019.
The scholarship is awarded annually to a female or male Marin FC scholarship recipient(s) who embodies Eloi’s dedication to family, strength of character, commitment to personal growth and academics, and passion for the game. The scholarship committee, which includes members of Eloi’s family, will review each application carefully and select an award recipient(s) based on the applicant’s commitment to the values that were important to Eloi. The scholarship award provides the recipient with an additional financial aid award to help families offset team fees and travel costs. Depending on the quality and number of applications more than one scholarship may be awarded.
To apply, please download the application in English or Spanish. Each player applicant is encouraged to work independently and the committee will be cognizant of the applicant’s age when reviewing the applications. There is no requirement to use all the words allowed for each questions but please do not exceed the maximum word limits specified. The committee is trying to get a sense of who you are and why the award is important to you. Please submit all completed applications with your name, address, email address, and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All scholarship recipients are acknowledged on the “Living For the Game” web page. We look forward to reading your application
